Instruction

Instruction (teaching) of the truths of God’s Word is one of the declared purposes of God’s Word in 2 Timothy 3:16. It’s also a vital part of making disciples (Matt 28:19-20) and of standing for truth (1 Tim 3:15). Therefore, our teaching ministries are central to the heart of who we are as a church. Once again, we strive to teach people of all ages (children and adults) at a level that is appropriate to them. We acknowledge that parents are given the primary responsibility in Scripture (Deut 6:6-9); however, our desire is to assist the families of our church to accomplish this task in an effective and supportive manner.

Adult/Youth Sunday School

Second Timothy 3:16 tells us that the inspired Word of God is profitable for didactic teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness. Sunday School is our primary venue for didactic instruction of God’s Word. When it comes to learning and responsibility, we categorize adults and youth together realizing that with more age comes growing wisdom and understanding. Thus, we have classes for all age categories of adults generally in an age blended format (i.e., we offer classes based on theological categories or biblical passages and not based on age). We do, however, offer age specific classes to our junior high and senior high students to enhance their learning at a level specific for them. That being said, at times, they may join the adults for specific classes.

Children’s Sunday School

We love to teach our children the truths of God’s Word as did Jesus; therefore, we have Sunday School classes for all ages. We utilize the Generations of Grace Sunday School material which cycles through the narrative and historical passages of Scripture for the instruction of children between three years of age and sixth grade. Teaching children the historical stories and truths of God’s Word is a critical and life impacting obligation of every church.
